Shift Happens

It has been a while since my last post and I apologize. The only thing harder than looking for a job is getting one with Microsoft (albeit as a contractor) even if it was only briefly. It was a great experience but it busted my balls in a positive sort of way. In the interim I was participating in Xamarin user groups. One in Indianapolis and one in Seattle. The last Seattle Meeting caused me to reevaluate my path. I had been struggling on how to back up the database. And this discussion changed my perspective (slides). Maybe the cloud is not a bad place after all. The presenter had a mobile application that uses Azure functions and Azure Table storage to achieve its function. He indicated that it was only a couple of dollars a month in cost for 200 users. Hell, I can afford that and I just spent the last quarter building Azure functions for my employer. Fate it seams is screaming at me to rethink my architecture and so I will. And now that I have some time on my hands I will start anew using Azure. And I will not wait as long as I have till I post again.
